COP32

The 32nd UN Climate Change Conference

Africa's table. Ethiopia's turn.

Addis Ababa will host COP32 from 8–19 November 2027. Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee and the permanent seat of the African Union — a city with a recent record of hosting large-scale climate diplomacy on the continent.

Why Addis Ababa

Three terraces of a highland city

01

Coffee & the land

Ethiopia is coffee's country of origin — a relationship between land, climate, and livelihood that spans millennia. Agriculture across the highlands depends on stable seasons and healthy watersheds; climate change is a direct threat to that foundation.

02

Green Legacy

Ethiopia's Green Legacy Initiative is the country's evidence at COP32: billions of seedlings planted, forest cover rising, and a 2027 cumulative target framed explicitly for the conference.

More than 48 billion seedlings planted since 2019

03

Seat of the Union

Addis Ababa is the permanent headquarters of the African Union. In September 2025, the city hosted the Second Africa Climate Summit — a precedent for large-scale climate diplomacy on African soil.
